NFPA's Fire Sprinkler Initiative is dedicated to following home fire trends and keeping you current on the latest fire statistics.
Residential Structure Fires: The reported number of civilian deaths and injuries, and the cost of property damage (in billions of dollars) as a result of fire in residential structures from 1977 - 2010. Residential structures include homes, hotels and motels, dormitories, barracks, and the like but do not include schools, jails or prisons, among other properties that provide sleeping accommodations.

One- and two- family home fires (including manufactured homes): The reported number of civilian deaths and injuries, and the cost of property damage (in billions of dollars) as a result of fire in one- and two- family homes from 1977 - 2010.

Home fires with ten or more fatalities: Gathered from NFPA’s Fire Incident Data Organization, this table provides dates and locations along with the number of deaths as a result of home fires from 1980 - 2010.
U.S. home structure fires: The reported number of civilian deaths and injuries, and the cost of property damage (in billions of dollars) as a result of fire in home structures defined as dwellings, duplexes, manufactured homes, apartments, rowhouses, townhouses and condominiums.
