As firefighters in Wisconsin, Fire Inspector Guy Santelli and his wife are all too familiar with the tragic potential of fires in unsprinklered homes. For them, installing a sprinkler system in their new home was an easy choice: "We put fire sprinkler systems in our new home to protect our children. We want to protect our family the best we can," he says. Debunking some popular sprinkler installation myths, Mr. Santelli points out that there really is no downside to fire sprinkler systems -- for them, there were no additional costs or extraordinary water fees.

About Faces of Fire

NFPA’s Faces of Fire campaign is a tool to help people and groups across the country promote the use of automatic fire sprinklers in one- and two-family homes. By containing fires before they spread, home fire sprinklers protect lives and property. The personal stories told through the Faces of Fire campaign will show the experiences of those who escaped or lost loved ones in home fires and those whose lives and property were protected by home fire sprinklers. Faces of Fire is a project of the National Fire Protection Association funded by a Federal Emergency Management Agency Fire Prevention and Safety Grant.
